Welcome to a snapshot of my brain. I am known for being basically a full time juggler, and I always get questions on how I stay organized, so I thought I would share my methods. I did a post a while back about some productivity hacks, here, which are still my go to for handling multiple tasks at once. Today I am just giving you a quick glimpse into what has proven to work for me while juggling full time work, mentorship, running a blog, a couple side hustles, and now a mother.
I have tried various online platforms, but I always revert back to the old faithful of hand written tasks. I do use one online platform which is Microsoft To Do. I use that for my brain-dumps mostly and overviews of my months instead of my daily to do list. I have found Microsoft to do the most useful for the tracking purposes - if you are a student or a multitasker by trade I would check out this method. If you are looking for online platforms for task tracking I would check out Trello and Asana as well.
What I use everyday is my Filofax A5 Planner (I use the FiloFax daily inserts right now for time blocking), Post It, and Cloth and Paper Inserts, and Midliner Highlighters. I use this notepad for my weekly brain dump - check them out for all your notepad needs.
I am obsessed with Cloth and Paper inserts so I would highly recommend them if you are looking for a way to dress up your planner while increasing productivity. I use their post its, inserts, flags/stickers, and dashboards - aka everything.
My A5 planner is my holy grail honestly especially since having my daughter (mommy brain is real). I track just about everything! I track weekly/monthly/quarterly/yearly goals, expenses, appointments, schedules, habits, passwords, etc. I also manage an assortment of lists such as book lists, travel list/bucket lists, shopping lists, etc.
The key to being effectively organized is being intentional about what you want to get done. We all tend to overpack our to-do list and multitask, so we never feel like we are getting things done. Pick 3 things you need to get done, 1 that you want to get done, and then allow yourself enough time to get the task done before moving to the next. Another thing that is super simple but effective is keeping everything in one place. I use to have a million loose leaf papers laying around which was leading me to miss things, so I started to using the A5 to keep everything in one place.
