I was nervous about making this year dedicated to myself when there were so many things that needed my attention outside of myself (work, motherhood, home, relationships, etc). I realized even in that statement I am still at the center of it all - so it truly only made sense to double down on myself in 2024.
In 2023 I started to take self care more seriously. Honestly, I had a lot more to unpack than I thought. I had to really dial in on what I wanted/didn't want and liked/disliked. I had to reestablish my non-negotiables and realign with my values. It forced me to open up about unresolved traumas, and boy did that stir up a lot. I realized that there are some things that need some extra attention this year if I have to make sigificant changes.
The top "skills" I am CONSISTENTLY focusing on in 2024 are:
Listening / communication
Patience
Trust
Staying present
Vulnerability
My word of the year is ACCOUNTABILITY. I live by "nothing changes if nothing changes" and "never miss twice" - so now it is time to hold myself accountable and put in the work every day. Every day is a new chance to prove that I can keep the promises I make to myself.
Make sure you are holding yourself accountable. Make sure you make small steps towards whatever your goals are. Never stop creating better verisons of yourself. This is a reminder that taking care of yourself is not a luxury - it is your birth right. It is a necessity.
Stop prolonging your life goals by just passively sitting by. It is not enough to just think about all the ways you would live your life ... you need to take action to live that life. Take an honest look at your goals versus your where you are right now and see where the misalignment is. For the remaining 358 days work towards closing that gap.
